Oviedo's Rachael Todd wins 'Miss Florida' pageant

Oviedo's Rachael Todd was crowned Miss Florida on July 12th and will compete in the Miss America pageant in January 2010.
According to the UCF Newsroom:
Todd, a Communications major from Oviedo, focused her pageant platform on “The Changing Face of Homelessness.” She volunteers with the nonprofit HOPE Foundation, which her mother, Krissy, established to help Central Florida families in crisis become self-sufficient through Housing, Outreach, Prevention, and Education.
“HOPE hosts outreach events to educate and change the way people think about the poor and homeless in a way that compels them to take action,” Todd wrote on her pageant Web site, www.rachaeltodd.com. “I believe that it is as important to educate and increase awareness about the changing face of homelessness, as it is to try and fix our broken systems of support.”
